Edwardian 9ct yellow gold bar brooch with gold rush themed decoration of a spade, pick, vine leaf and gold nugget.
Hallmarked for 9ct, 1909 Chester and signed for S. Ward & Sons.
Approx. 4.3cm wide and weighs approx. 2.3 grams. Has a safety chain.
In very good condition with light surface wear. There are some very very tiny patches of green, mostly to the reverse of the leaves. Cleaning has not removed these and they appear to have been remnants of some sort of decorative coating, perhaps enamel, rather than discoloration. One of the vines has 2 leaves, rather than 3; it is unclear if this was caused damage rather than design. Pin is not gold.
